Creating mask Layers 1. Draw a background image with a mix of colours. 2. Create a new layer above this. 3. Create some text or other object in this layer. 4. Right click the top layer and select mask. Masking animations 1. Create a layer to animate. This can be a motion tween, or shape tween. 2. Add a layer above it and create a static object for the mask. 3. Change the static object into a mask layer. 4. Or you can animate the mask rather than the object being masked. Shape tween 1. Insert a keyframe 2. Draw circle on bottom of stage. 3. Click on keyframe. Press F5 (Insert|Frame) 4. Drag out end frame to 50. 5. Press F6 to insert keyframe at the end. 6. Select object and move to new location. 7. Use subselect tool (white arrow) to morph the circle in the end frame. 8. Press and hold shift key to select both start and end keyframes. 9. Select Frame tab from Frame panel and select motion Shape. 10.Play movie and observe. 11.Use subselect tool to morph circle in the first frame. 12.Play movie and observe. 13.Select object in last frame and change its radial fill. 14.Play movie and observe. Copying frames 1. Press and hold ctrl and select first frame. 2. Hold shift key and ctrl click the last frame. 3. Right click and select Copy Frames. 4. Select the empty frame to the right of the last keyframe. Right click and choose Paste Frames. 5. Ctrl click the first PASTED keyframe, then hold shift key and ctrl click the last PASTED keyframe. 6. Right click and choose Reverse Frames. 7. Play movie and animation plays forwards and backwards. Moving an entire animation 1. Make sure the layer is unlocked and visible. 2. Chose Onion All (the Modify Onion Markers button) 3. Select Edit Multiple Frames. 4. All keyframe objects should be highlighted 5. Drag the entire animation on the stage. 6. Select Modify | Transform | Flip Vertical to render animation upsidedown. Ease In and Ease Out 1. Select first keyframe. 2. From Frame Panel, select Frame tab. 3. Change easing from 0 to -100 4. Select middle keyframe. 5. Change easing from 0 to 100 6. Click on the onion skin outline button. 7. Make the onion skin range the entire animation. 8. Play the animation. Tween along a path 1. Create a new layer and add a motion tween to the object in the layer. 2. Set playhead to the start of the motion tween. 3. Select the layer with motion tween. 4. Click on Add Guide Layer icon. 5. Use pencil tool to draw a path on guide layer. 6. Place playhead on first frame of motion tween. 7. Activate guided layer. Drag object on guided layer until it snaps onto the path. 8. Place playhead on last frame of motion tween. 9. Activate guided layer. Drag object on guided layer until it snaps onto the path. Shape Tween 1. Create a new layer. 2. Open the file songbird.cdr. 3. Paste into the first keyframe in Flash. 4. Select Modify | Break Apart. 5. Insert Frame to the right of keyframe. 6. Drag out frame to 50. 7. Insert keyframe at end. 8. Paste music.cdr into last frame. 9. Delete songbird from last frame. 10. Select Modify | Break Apart on last frame. 11. Shift select first and last frame. 12. Select Shape tween from Frame panel. Shape hints 1. Click on first frame. 2. Select Modify | Transform | Add Shape hint. 3. Move circle A to top of object. 4. Click on last frame. 5. Move red circle to top of object. Adding a button 1. Add a new layer. 2. Select Windows | Common Libraries | Buttons 3. Select a button and drag to stage. 4. Right click on button and choose Edit in Place. Add a new layer to timeline and call it sounds. 5. Open the Window | Common Libraries | Sounds. 6. Insert a keyframe on the Over state of the sounds layer. Drag a sound from the library to the stage. 7. Return to the main Timeline. 8. Select Control | Enable Simple buttons. 9. Verify sound over motion button. 10. Right click on button and change the colour appearance for over and down. Make the button work 1. Right click on button and select Actions. 2. Double click Stop to tell the movie to stop. 3. Double click GetURL to tell Flash to load a URL and load up a new URL.
